DENNING FERNVALE June 14. -- The death occurred recently of Mr. Isaac Denning in the Brisbane General Hospital. The late Mr. Denning was a native of Glamorgan Vale, where he was born in 1871. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Denning, were among the earliest settlers in the Glamorgan Vale district, having migrated from Monmouthshire, England. The late Mr. Denning attended the Glamorgan Vale School, and later worked at various occupations. Many years ago Mr. Denning decided to go North on the Atherton Tableland, and he finally selected land at Tolga. He was among the earlier settlers of that district. The land was heavily timbered, and he worked hard before there were any returns. Mr. Denning often spoke about the valuable timbers which were burned to clear the land. For six months of the year he would reside on his selection and for the remaining six months was engaged in sawmilling work at Lawson and Son's mill, Mareeba. After the work of clearing was completed, he turned his attention to dairying pursuits, and the cream was sent to Malanda buttery factory. For some years the late Mr. Denning leased his dairy farm. About five years ago he came to Fernvale, to live near his relatives. For some time the late Mr. Denning had been in failing health. A bachelor of a quiet retiring nature, he was highly respected by all. A service was conducted at an Ipswich funeral parlour by Rev. J. E. Jacobs before the funeral moved to the Fernvale Cemetery, where a short service was conducted by Rev. O. G. Gunders, of the Lowood Circuit. Mr. Denning was the last remaining member of a large family.
