JONES DIES OF HEART ATTACK Death Comes Unexpectedly Today to Early Resident of County A distinct shock to his family and friends was the unexpected death of Isaac N. Jones, 77, well-known resident of Platte county and Columbus for nearly 50 years, who died at 9:10 a.m. today at his home. His death was due to a heart attack suffered about a half an hour before he died. First stricken with heart trouble two weeks ago when he suffered an attack, he suffered another several days later, but rallied from both of those. He had been up and around the house the last few days, and was up this morning and dressed for the day, when he suffered a third attack. He lapsed into unconsciousness and his death followed in a short time. Born on Mar. 5, 1860, in Wales, he came to this country when 21 years of age to join a brother, Robert, who was residing in Platte county in the Postville neighborhood. He procured work on a farm of the late David Thomas, and worked there for two years, In 1883 he went to Clarinda, Ia., and it was there he met Miss Sophia Mistress, whom he married on Feb. 13, 1884. They made their home on a farm near there until 1889, when they moved to a farm in Filmer county, Colo., where they spent a year and a half. Moving back to the Postville neighborhood in Joliet township at that time, they resided on rented farms until 1921, when they retired and moved to Portland, Ore., where they remained for a year. Returning to Columbus again, Mr. Jones was employed for a few years as caretaker at Lutheran Good Samaritan hospital, and then became manager at the Fairmont Creamery. In 1930 he gave up that position retiring from active work. He apparently enjoyed good health until two weeks ago. He is survived by five sons, Dave T. and Clinton Jones, of Omaha, W. G. and Newton Jones, of Columbus, and Oscar H. Jones, of Council Bluffs, Ia.; two daughters, Mrs. Fredlof Smith, of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Edward B. Sutter, of Columbus; two sisters that reside in Wales; 13 grandchildren and one great grandson. A daughter, Ruth Emily, that died in infancy, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Gass Funeral chapel with Rev. Ray H. Turner, pastor of the Federated church, officiating.
