He had come up town that morning apparently as well as ever and was at the Shipley grocery, having just finished making some purchases. Mr. Sconce complained of a pain in his chest. Clyde Shipley, proprietor of the store, noticed then that Sconce's face was quite white and he appeared very ill. He said, "Ike, you're sick; come on over and sit down on this bench." Apparently Mr. Sconce turned to do so, but fell forward on his face. Shipley called Dr. C. W. Keith at once but when he arrived Mr. Sconce was beyond medical aid and died a few minutes later. A heart attack was the cause of his death. Isaac Perry Sconce was born in Wapello, County, Iowa, near Eldon, on August 30, 1859, and died at Edgar, Nebraska on Tuesday, November 5, 1935, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 5 days. On August 6, 1886, he was united in marriage to Eva Elizabeth Orr in Davis County, Iowa, near Bloomfield, and to this union six children were born, one of whom died in infancy. Left to mourn are, his wife, four sons, Ralph of Edgar, Roy G. of Ohiowa, Wright W. of Osmond, Buell B. of Hastings, one daughter, Mrs. Helen F. Gifford of Lincoln, other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Sconce came to Nebraska in 1906 and lived on a farm south of Edgar for several years, later moving to town where they lived for ten years. They later moved to Lincoln where they resided for five years, coming back to Edgar where they have made their home since,. About thirty-five years ago Mr. Sconce professed his faith in Christ and united with the Methodist Church and has held steadfastly to that faith ever since. Funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 Thursday afternoon, November 7, in charge of Rev Home B. Hix. Interment was in the Edgar Cemetery.
