On Mar. 1, 1689/90 at Falmouth, Isaac m. Hannah Harper, a Quaker, born "1 of 3 mo. 1670" (i.e., May 1, 1670) at Sandwich, Mass. (Sandwich Friends' MM Rec.), dau. of Robert Harper and his 2nd wife Prudence Butler. Hannah purportedly d. in 1741, but there is no recorded proof of her death. She is not mentioned in her husband's will of 1747. Daughter Abigail, who is called Abigail Robinson in her father's Sept. 1747 will, married a month thereafter and is called in the Friends marriage record the daughter of Isaac Robinson and Hannah deceased. Isaac apparently lived his entire life at Falmouth, Mass. and by his 1st marriage he established the first known direct connection with the Society of Friends (aka Quaker) within the Robinson descendant family. He either does or does not hold the key to what part of 1704 his immigrant grandfather Isaac Robinson died. On Aug. 11, 1704 Hannah (Harper) Robinson's niece, Deborah Bowerman, m. Gershom Gifford at a Friends ceremony at the home of Deborah's father Thomas Bowerman in Falmouth. The marriage certificate in the Friends record was signed by 13 males, including an Isaac Robinson as the 13th and last male, in a place on the certificate not indicative that Isaac was an immediate and/or close relative of the married couple. And, a Hannah Robinson did not sign the certificate. At the time Hannah (Harper) Robinson had recently given birth to her seventh child, daughter Mary on May 5, 1704, and perhaps was not able to attend. Elsewise, if the Isaac Robinson who signed the certificate was not the husband of Hannah Harper, then it could only have been the immigrant patriarch of the Robinson family, Isaac Robinson, who purportedly died in 1704. Isaac and Hannah (Harper) Robinson had ten known children, all recorded at Falmouth, Mass. In this era Friends did not believe in cemetery headstones or personal monuments. Although there is no record of where Isaac was interred, by virtue of his children being routinely recorded in the Falmouth vital records the memorialist has assumed he was interred at Falmouth's Old Town cemetery vs. at one of Falmouth's old Quaker burying grounds. However, no known gravestone exists for either he or wife Hannah. Their children b. at Falmouth were: • i. Sarah Robinson, b. Jan. 4, 1690/1, d. Mar. 18, 1735/6 at Sandwich, Mass.; m. Mar. 7, 1721/2 of record at Falmouth as his 2nd of three known wives, Solomon Hoxie, s. of Lodowick Hoxie and Mary Presbury, b. Oct. 19, 1679 at Sandwich. Seven children of the marriage. Solomon m. 1) Feb. 24, 1703/4 at Sandwich, Elizabeth Wing (Samuel,3 Daniel,2 Rev. John,1) by whom he had seven additional children. • ii. Elizabeth Robinson, b. circa 1692-93; m. 1) Feb 25, 1712/3 at Falmouth, Matthew Price by whom she had eight known children. No death or probate record has been found for Matthew, but Elizabeth is called Elizabeth Hatch in her father's 1747 will. She m. 2) at Falmouth on Feb. 11, 1740/41, Thomas Hatch. • iii. Abigail Robinson, b. Nov. 18, 1694, was living in 1747 when she m. at Sandwich on Oct. 10, 1747 at age 52 via Friends ceremony, Solomon Hoxie, s. of Hezekiah Hoxie and Dinah Butler of Sandwich. He was b. at Sandwich on Feb. 28, 1702/03. • iv. Experience Robinson, b. Jan. 4, 1696/7, was living on Oct. 4, 1765; m. Apr. 3, 1719 of record at Falmouth, Amos Landers, s. Richard Landers and Sarah Freeman, b. June 5, 1699 at Sandwich, Mass. He d. testate, his will dated Apr. 26, 1764 but not probated until 1781. Ten known children of the family, only two of whom have recorded birth dates and otherwise do not appear in the Friends records. • v. John Robinson, b. Nov. 16, 1699, was living in 1749 when as sole executor he probated his father's will; m. 1) Nov. 2, 1727 of record at Falmouth, his 1st cousin Rebecca Robinson, dau. of Timothy Robinson and Experience Weeks, b. June 9, 1706 at Falmouth. Four children of the marriage. He m. 2) Apr. 23, 1740 at Falmouth, Jean Gifford. • vi. Peter Robinson, b. Dec. 15, 1701, d. Apr. 6, 1772 purportedly at Nova Scotia; m. July 18, 1727 of record at Falmouth, Martha Green, dau. of Isaac and Sarah Green, b. Oct. 28, 1705 of record at Falmouth. She purportedly d. in 1773 at Nova Scotia. They had eight purported children, the majority of whom were b. of record at Falmouth, Mass. • vii. Mary Robinson, b. May 5, 1704; m. Sept. 23, 1725 of record at Falmouth, her 1st cousin Thomas Robinson, s. of Timothy Robinson and Experience Weeks, b. Apr. 3, 1703 of record at Falmouth. Seven known children of the family. • viii. Prudence Robinson, b. July 1, 1707; m. Sept. 7, 1727 of record at Falmouth as his 1st wife, Ebenezer Chadwick, s. of James Chadwick and Hannah Butler of Malden, Mass. Eight children of the marriage. He m. 2) Nov. 8, 1740 at Falmouth, Sarah Weeks, by whom he had three additional children. • ix. Hannah Robinson, b. Oct. 1, 1709, was living June 29, 1763 at Falmouth; m. Nov. 24, 1726 at Falmouth as his 2nd wife, Nathan Rowley, Jr., s. of Nathan Rowley (Moses,2 Henry,1) and Mercy Hatch, b. in Apr 1700 at Falmouth. By virtue of his paternal grandfather Moses Rowley's marriage to Elizabeth Fuller (Matthew,2 Edward,1), Nathan was a 5th generation descendant of Mayflower passenger Edward Fuller. However, there were no known children of this marriage. Nathan had m. 1) prior to 1720 an unidentified Mary, by whom he had two recorded children, Matthew and Anne Rowley . • x. Isaac Robinson, Jr., b. Aug. 14, 1713, d. testate bef. Oct. 24, 1749 but is included in his father's Sept. 1747 will ; m. 1) Nov. 13, 1735 at Falmouth, Esther Nye, dau. of Benjamin Nye and Hannah Backhouse, b. Feb. 4, 1707/08 at Falmouth. She d. Aug. 13, 1742 at Falmouth (g.s.). Three children of the marriage. Isaac m. 2) Dec. 23, 1742 at Falmouth, Jane Hatch, dau. of Thomas Hatch, Jr. and Mary Cathcart, b. May 13, 1716 at Falmouth. Three additional children by the 2nd marriage. Isaac married (2) the widow Alice (nee Worthylake) (Allen) Dexter, the twin daughter of Peter, b. Aug. 18, 1676 at Scituate, Mass. There were no children of the marriage. Alice m. (1) Aug. 1701 at Sandwich, Mass., John Allen, twin s. of George Allen, Jr. of Sandwich, b. there in Aug. 1656. He d. testate and childless at Sandwich on Dec. 3, 1717. She m. (2) Dec. 8, 1720 at Falmouth, Mass. as his second wife, Philip Dexter, who d. testate at Falmouth in 1741.
