Description	:	Isaac "Ike" Pederson-Rognrud was born September 3, 1890 in Blair, WI. Ike was raised on the Rognrud homestead on Fly Creek, Trempleau County, Wisconsin for 14 years, helping work the farm until his mother (Olia Tappen Rognrud) died in 1905. Ike had six brothers (George, Gilbert, Aulaus, Peder, Alec, and Albert) and seven sisters (Valborg, Clara, Emma, Gena, Petra, Carrie, and Lena). Ike was raised on the Rognrud homestead on Fly Creek, Trempleau County, Wisconsin for 14 years, helping work the farm until his mother (Olia Tappen Rognrud) died in 1905. Ike had six brothers (George, Gilbert, Aulaus, Peder, Alec, and Albert) and seven sisters (Valborg, Clara, Emma, Gena, Petra, Carrie, and Lena). He worked in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota until he moved west with his wife, Mary, and children (Merle, Gordon, Evelyn, and Dorothy) in 1926. He became an expert woodsman, living in the early camps of loggers in Wisconsin. He worked in the Ford Model T assembly plant in Fargo, ND. He worked as a carpenter, building grain elevators and barns. He worked on a large grain farm where machinery was pulled by horses and mules. He was a nursery manager in Valley City. And finally, he owned and farmed his own property in St. Ignatius, Montana, until his death. Ike and Mary became involved in the Farmers Union Cooperative movement, and was on the board of directors of the Farmers Union Consolidated Dairies for many years. He was a good Democrat and very active in Lake County Democratic Committee. He knew senators Mike Mansfield and Lee Metcalf personally. He received an invitation to President Kennedy's inauguration in 1960, and to President Lyndon Johnson's inaugural ball in 1964. Ike was an avid reader. He played the accordion and was in great demand to play at neighborhood dances held in the community in the 1920's and early 30's. He played old time waltzes, polkas, schottish, two-step, and square dances. He was also in demand to call at the square dances. He was an excellent dancer and often won the prize waltz contest, though not with dancing with his wife, who was not much of a dancer. He did not drink alcohol and had a lot of fun without that crutch. He was a good neighbor, helping and giving of his time and effort in exchange of work, making sure that he contributed more than his share as a rule.
