He came to Abilene from Pennsylvania in the early eighties and has been in the hardware and implement business here since 1884. He was a director in the Farmers' National bank and was interested largely in real estate in this county and elsewhere. Simon M., of this city, and Everett of Riley, Kan. Kindly and warm hearted in his dealings with his fellow men, ernest in his faith in Kansas and his home city and county. Mr. Shockey had a large part in the upbuilding of the business life of Abilene and will be greatly missed. He was a good husband, father, and citizen and a host of friends will mourn him.
