Description	:	Justice of the Peace until his death. Represented the town of Middleborough in the Mass. State Legislature; also represented the county of Plymouth for 16 years until his age called him to retire. He supported the cause of liberty during the Revolutionary War. He was a faithful member of the First Church of Christ (Congregational Church) of Middleboro. The portrait of Isaac Thompson was painted by portrait artist Cephas Thompson. It hung with a portrait of his wife Lucy in the home on one of his descendants. A descendant Eliot Cranch took photos of the portraits and gave copies to his relatives. A letter dated 1838 gives this brief history of the portraits.
