Mrs. Isabella Faragher, aged 92, died at 1:15 pm Sunday at the home of her son, George Faragher, 14 Fifth Ave SE following an illness of eight weeks. She had been in poor health for the last two years, following a fall from the icy steps of her home in which she broke her left wrist. "Mrs. Faragher was born in Indiana Aug. 31, 1842. When she was three years old, her mother died and she was taken by her father to Dodgeville, Wis, where she lived until after her marriage to James Faragher Oct. 9, 1862. In 1863, Mrs. Faragher, with her husband and one son, crossed the plains in a covered wagon to Boise City, Idaho, and later went to Idaho City. After five years they returned to Dodgeville and in 1877 moved to Adrian, Minn where they farmed until 1897 when they retired, moving to Ellsworth, Minn, a town established 4 miles from their farm in 1884." "On July 4, 1900, they came to Watertown and bought the property near the Mellette school, known as Faragher's subdivision. Mrs. Faragher has made her home here ever since, with the exception of four years spent in Hot Springs, SD due to the illness of one of her sons. Mrs. Faragher was a member of the Watertown WRC, but transferred her membership to Hot Springs during her residence there. Since coming to Watertown she had been affiliated with the Trinity Episcopal church. Her services as a nurse were freely extended especially during the pioneer days." "Mrs. Faragher was an active writer both of poetry and prose. She was especially interested in horticulture and wrote a great deal on that subject. Up to the time of her death she regularly contributed a column of poetry to the Nobles County Review of Adrian, Minn. She was a member of American Pen Women and was poet laureate for the local auxiliary of that body. She began a poem a month ago at the age of 92." "She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Douglas Brown, 17 Third Ave, NW, Watertown; four sons, Charles and George of Watertown, with the former of whom she made her home until her last illness, John R. Faragher of RR6, Watertown; and James Faragher of Adrian, Minn; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died May 9, 1921, 3 daughters, Agnes, Margaret, and Annie; two brothers, Elisha and Robert Tyrer, 3 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body will lie in state at the Shaw Messer Chapel until 1 am, Tuesday, when it will be taken to the church, where it will lie in state until the funeral."
