Jacob and Isabella moved their family from Monongalia Co. VA to a settlement named "McCoy's Creek" in the "Territory of Michigan" in 1834. This area is "now" known as Buchanan, Berrien County Michigan. ----------------------------------- It is written in the story of the Wallin family of Buchanan Township, that the children of the physician in Buchanan Township Dr. Charles Wallin, walked about a mile through the woods, with their neighbor children of the Dragoo and Cathcart families, in 1838, to a big log school taught by Angelina Bird. Later Miss Bird taught in the log house that the Wallins had lived in. ------------------------------------- Jacob and Isabella both died in 1838, only four years after their arrival in Michigan.
