Was Native of Norway and Early Day Resident of Choteau Mrs. Isabelle Lyon, widow of the late John Lyon and an old time resident of this county, passed away last Saturday at the Deaconess hospital in Great Falls where she had been a patient for seven weeks. Mrs. Lyon, whose maiden name was Holm, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Holm, and was born at Ronsdalen, Norway, June 12, 1864. When 24 years of age she migrated to America and lived for a short time with an uncle in Minnesota. Having known Mrs. William Hodgskiss in Norway, Miss Holm decided to come to Choteau to visit her girlhood friend. That was in 1890, She entered the employ of Mr. and Mrs. Hodgskiss who were then operating the Choteau hotel, known to old timers as Choteau house. Three years later she returned to Norway to visit parents, and while she was there her father died. About a year later she returned to Choteau. On Dec. 22, 1898, she was united in marriage to John Lyon, who at that time was engaged in freighting between Choteau and Collins and Choteau and Great Falls. To this union three children were born. Two, Mrs. Earl A. Bueling of Great Falls, and M.J. Lyon of this city, survive. A son, Oscar, died in Choteau on April 30, 1925, as a result of being injured when a horse fell on him. Other survivors are two grandchildren. Mr. Lyon passed away in Choteau in 1928. From 1900 to 1928 the Lyon family made their home on the Lyon ranch about four miles northwest of Choteau on Spring creek, where Jay now resides and operates the Spring Creek dairy. In 1928 the family moved to Choteau to make their home. During recent years Mrs. Lyon made her home with her daughter in Great Falls. Funeral services were held Monday from the Methodist church in this city. Interment was made in Choteau cemetery beside the remains of Mr. Lyon.
