Isaiah was the son of Peter Camper and Ellenor Obenchain/Obenshain; Peter is #258 in the 1899 book, "Genealogy of the Kemper Family In the United States" (by Kemper and Wright), but the book doesn't include the names of his children. Peter and Ellenor married in Botetourt Co., VA, which might be where Isaiah was born, but his birthplace may have been Giles Co. since that's where Peter was listed in the 1830 census (he was in Botetourt in the 1820 census), and Giles is adjacent to Botetourt. For decades, Isaiah worked as a Stone Mason, Bricklayer, and Plasterer. He married Martha Jane Harvey in 1855 in Montgomery Co., VA -- she was the daughter of Michael Harvey (his first name might be John) and Mary "Polly" Gordon. To their union were born five known children: William T., James Thomas, Laura Bell, Robert Ceward, and Lucy. In May 1862, Isaiah enlisted as a Private in Co. F, 36th Virginia Infantry Regiment, and was discharged due to disability in February 1864. The disability was likely permanent since he was hospitalized from August 1862 until his discharge. So, the possibility of him re-enlisting in 1864 or 1865 is extremely low. There's no online record for Isaiah or Martha after the 1880 census, so her date/place of death are unknown. It's not certain that their final resting place was the Westview Cemetery, but kin and some of their children were buried there.
