Read More	Isaiah Rabon Horry Herald October 12, 1914 Grandfather is Gone Mr. Isaiah Rabon died at his home near Cool Springs, S. C., June 12, 1914. At the age of 91 he crossed the silent river to swell with those in the sweet beyond. Thus passed away a loving father, a devoted husband, a good citizen and a noble man. True it is that the noble deeds of his life were not read in the daily newspapers his name was not engraved upon a window in some grand cathedral, yet he was truly great. His life at home, his trueness to the church and Sunday school, and the faithful performance of duty will continue to add stars to his crown as long as time lasts. He was hones, sober, patriotic, and upright. He was one of that loved and respected number who said "Goodbye" to his dear wife and loving children and faced the bloody struggle of 1861. For four long years he suffered the cruelties of the Civil War. Like Joshua of old he stood firm. Ever doing his duty until higher authorities said "It is finished." When he returned to that dear old spot called home, disheartened on one hand, but determined on the other, he did what he could to make his community one of the most delightful and charming places on earth. A place where everything that is good was encouraged and everything that is evil is pointed out and discountenanced. It's true that his brow was not crowned with the laurels of fame and glory, yet the deep desire and ever prevailing wish of his hear was, "God prosper, protect, and save our, people, our church, our State, and our Nation." Standing firm upon the principles of "truth, honor, and virtue," his life was ideal and about reproach. He lived a true member of the Methodist church from his boyhood days until his death. He leaves 6 children, 25 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren to mourn their loss. May God's grace be sufficient for them in this their hour of bereavement. We've no grandfather now to love He's on the other shore Horry Herald June 18, 1914 Death of Isaiah Rabon An Aged and Respected Citizen of Cool Springs Section is Gone Isaiah Rabon, a life long resident of the Cool Springs section of this county, died at his home on June 12th, in his 90th year. He served gallantly in the war between the States going off in 1862 and returning at the close of the war. He was for many years a member of the Methodist church, and was a member at the time of his death. He was among the best citizens of that section of our county. He was married in the year 1851 to Miss Prudence Jones, who preceded him to the grave a number of years. He is survived by his daughters, Mrs. Catherine Johnson, Mrs. Julia Allen, Mrs. Ellen Shelley, and Mrs. J. M. Lewis, and one son Mr. Joseph Rabon. The internment took place at Cool Spring, witnessed by a large crowd of friends and relatives. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Phillips of the Methodist Church. The funeral tool place on last Saturday.
