Pearson, 78, of Springville died Wednesday afternoon in a hospital at Burlington, and funeral services will be held Saturday at two o'clock in the Springville Presbyterian church, with the Rev. Mr. Pearson, a pioneer Linn County resident, is survived by his wife and two sons, Dr. George Pearson, of Burlington, and Frank Pearson, of Springville; also a brother, Walter Pearson, of Anamosa. -obituary, Marion [Ia.] Sentinel (May 16, 1940) -------------------------------------------- Isaiah Sinclair Pearson was born October 7, 1861, at the pioneer home of his parents, George and Hannah Pearson. He was the youngest of six children who enjoyed that happy Christian home circle. There he grew through childhood and youth, receiving his education in the local schools and Cornell college. For several years he taught school, and was always actively interested in civic projects for improvement. He was united in marriage to Harriet L. Carbee July 7, 1885, at the Carbee home, and for over 54 years, their lives, through joys and sorrows, have exemplified a true unit of hearts and life interests. To them were born three children, Frank, now of Keokuk, Eleanor who died in 1918, and George now of Burlington. After his marriage until 1890, he and his father farmed the home place and when his parents moved to Springville he continued the farm management until he purchased the farm home three miles north of Springville. There they lived until impaired health, caused by a serious illness, compelled him to retire from farm labors in 1918, when they moved to their present home in Springville. Many years ago he was united with the Viola Methodist church. He has long been a member of the Springville Masonic lodge. For several months he had been failing in health, and on May 9 was taken to a hospital in Burlington where he submitted to an operation on May 13, and although he seemed to improve, his frail condition made the best medical care of no avail, and on Wednesday, May 15 his spirit was released. Those who feel most keenly their loss in his passing are his wife, two sons, six grandchildren and a brother Walter K. Pearson of Anamosa. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Presbyterian church, with the Rev. David DeBest, of Hopkinton, officiating.
