He was born in Wapello county April 1, 1867, the son of Floyd and Celesta Chedister. He had barbered in Blakesburg, Ottumwa and Kirkville for more than 50 years, retiring in 1940. Survivors are his wife, Mellie; two sons, Edmond and Harold, both of Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. O.F. Mr. and Mrs. Chedister would have been married 50 years on May 3. The body is at the Lester Jay funeral home, and arrangements for services have not been made. “CHEDISTER SERVICES,” From “Ottumwa Courier,” April 9, 1946: Funeral services for Isan T. Chedister, who died Monday at his home in Kirkville, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Lester Jay funeral home in charge of the Rev. C.R. Reed, pastor of the Willard Street Methodist church. Interment will be in Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be R.E. McMaster, D.J. Voorhies, L.S. Rogers, Joe Coleman, Carl Harnden and George Adams.
