She was born to parents Julia (Garvey) and Charles Hodges on October 28, 1916. As an increasingly rare Ellensburg native, Tommy grew up on her parent's ranch with her older sister E. She was born to parents Julia (Garvey) and Charles Hodges on October 28, 1916. As an increasingly rare Ellensburg native, Tommy grew up on her parent's ranch with her older sister E. Peggy (Orr, deceased) and her younger brother, Bob. On September 5, 1938, Tommy married Paul E. Dorsey, who also grew up in Ellensburg. They moved to Seattle, where Paul supported the World War II effort by helping to build bombers at the Boeing Company. After the war, they returned to Ellensburg to raise their younger son Bill and his sister Paula. Tommy was a devoted wife and mother, however, she and Paul, also loved dancing and playing cards with friends. In 1952, she entered Central Washington College of Education (Central Washington University). In 1956, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a teaching certificate. She then took a teaching position at Damman School, just west of Ellensburg. Damman was the last country school in Washington State and she enjoyed teaching there. She retired in the mid-1970s to spend more time with her husband. Tommy and Paul enjoyed many, many years camping, fishing and traveling in their camp trailer with family and friends. She especially enjoyed clam digging trips along Washington's coast. They took many long trips east to visit family an Dato explore historic sites east of the Mississippi River. One of their most memorable trips was to Washington DC. Throughout her adult years, Tommy was a devoted and active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church where she made many good friends. Mrs. Dorsey was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; sister Peggy Orr and daughter Paula Sue Dorsey. She took great comfort from her many friends and family visitors during her final weeks. Family survivors include her brother, Bob Hodges and his wife Betty of Bellevue, Washington; son, William K. Dorsey and his wife Sharon of Redmond, Washington; grandsons, Mike (wife Christy) and Jim Dorsey, granddaughter, Andrea; a great granddaughter and two great grandsons; many wonderful nieces and nephews plus a lot of friends. There will be a time of visitation at Steward & Williams Tribute Center in Ellensburg on Thursday, December 27, 2007, starting at 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. when the Recitation of the Rosary will begin. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Ellensburg on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 1 p.m. burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Ellensburg.
