Mrs. Crook moved from Iowa to Saskatchewan about seven years ago, and in the fall of 1928 she came to Peace River, where she has since resided. Issue: Thursday, May 3, 1928 Page 6. ONE OF KOSSUTH'S PIONEERS ------------- Mrs. Iva Crook, Formerly of Rodman, Who Died at Peace River April 16 ------------- West Bend, Ia., May 2 (By Rev. Clifton) Mrs. William Crook passed away April 16 at the home of her son, Geo. Crook, at Peace River, Alberta, Can- ada, at the age of 81 years, three months and 16 days. The funeral services were held in the Rodman church Thursday with Rev. John E. Clifton, Methodist minister of West Bend, officiating. He delivered a very impressive sermon. He was assisted by Rev. E .E. Zimmerman. The re- mains were laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery at Emmetsburg where the body of Mr. Crook rests. Miss Iva Wright was born at Bloomington, Illinois, January 1 1847. When a small child she moved with her parents to Iowa, settling near Algona. January 21, 1864, she was united in marriage with Mr. Wil- liam Crook of Algona. There they resided for a short time but later moved onto a farm three miles west of Rodman. Ten sons and daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Crook, seven of whom survive. The sons are Lewis of Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan, Canada, Andrew of Prince George, B. C., Canada. George of Peace River, Canada, and Jess of Rodman. The daughters are Mrs. Cora Debolt of Dickens, Mrs. Melvina Debolt of White Law, Alberta, and Mrs. Geneva Stine of Putnam, Oklahoma. Mrs. Crook was one of the early pioneers of this community, having settled here 60 years ago. Following her husband's death 40 years ago, she adapted herself to the conditions in life and did whatever she could to be of help to her family whom she so lovingly aided. The surviving rela- tives have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.
