A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Perry Grover Hoyle Reece and daughter of the late General Sherman and Rosa Spencer Hill. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was retired from Oxford Industries. Mrs. Reece was a great genealogist and loved traveling and crafts. Iva Eugenia Hill Reece, 90, passed away Sept. 4, 2005, in her apartment at Magnolias of Gaffney. A native of Gaffney, she was the widow of Perry Grover Hoyle Reece and daughter of the late General Sherman and Rosa Spencer Hill. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was retired from Oxford Industries. Mrs. Reece was a great genealogist and loved traveling and crafts. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday with many of her beloved friends and family at Magnolias of Gaffney. Surviving are her son, Sherman Lee Reece and wife Nancy of Norfolk; a very special nephew, Archie Dean Fowler and wife Dianne of Blacksburg, S.C., and numerous other nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Shirley Ruppe, Frances Hammett, Nellie Sarratt and Doris Logan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jean Reece; a brother, Vance Winyard Hill; and a sister, Olga Louise Hill Harris. The funeral will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gaffney, S.C., conducted by Bishop Manfred G. Martin, Elder Dennis DeVaney, Elder Lynn Lawhon, Elder Floyd Martin and Elder Archie D. Fowler. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Gaffney. Pallbearers will be M. Clayton Fowler, Douglas E. Fowler, Reece D. Fowler, S. Brook Fowler, F. Jason Fowler and Blakely C. Fowler. The family will be at respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Family History Center, c/o The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 701 W. Buford St., Gaffney, SC 29340.
