Hanna, Sr., age 67, of Spartanburg, and formerly of Johnsonville, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Born November 8, 1943, in the Hanna Community, Ivan was the son of the late Murdock Hanna and the late Ida Genelle Hanna. Hanna, Sr., age 67, of Spartanburg, and formerly of Johnsonville, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Born November 8, 1943, in the Hanna Community, Ivan was the son of the late Murdock Hanna and the late Ida Genelle Hanna. He was a graduate of Hanna High School and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, and was a member of Johnsonville United Methodist Church. He retired from the banking industry after 32 years. Ivan served in the Army and Air Force Reserves and was a member of the American Legion Post 144 in Johnsonville. He was a member of the Omar Shriner's Temple, a former treasurer of the Johnsonville Lions Club, and a member of the SC Bankers Association. Above all this, he loved his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Joyce Baxley Hanna, of the home; sons, Van Hanna of Florence, and Ken (Jana) Hanna of Spartanburg; daughter, Kim Anderson (Edward) of Charleston; grandchildren, Kyle Hanna, Tyler Hanna, Logan Hanna, and Makinley Hanna; and brothers, Dewey Hanna and David Hanna. Mr. Hanna was predeceased by brothers, Muriel Hanna and Ron Hanna. Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 4, 2011, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Wednesday, August 3, 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
