Read More	Ivan Gene Holter, 91, of Platte, SD passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Avera Queen of Peace Health Services in Mitchell, SD. Ivan Gene Holter was born on April 25, 1925 to Edward and Ella (Bakken) Holter in Platte, SD. He graduated from Platte High School in 1942 and was united in marriage to Jean Lucille DeJong on April 4, 1945 in Platte. Ivan was called to serve his country in the US Army during World War II from April 13, 1945 to October 17, 1946. He returned to work for the US Postal Service as a Postal Clerk and then Postmaster, retiring after 33 years. Upon retirement, he and Jean wintered in Arizona for over 25 years where they were very active in their mobile home community. They liked to dance and play shuffleboard, winning many trophies over the years. Ivan was a member of the First Reformed Church and Campbell-Timmerman American Legion Post #115 of Platte. He enjoyed bowling and the outdoors while hunting, playing golf and fishing – especially with his grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Ivan was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Holter (Jan. 27, 2014); his parents, Edward and Ella Holter; three brothers: Marion, Harley and Royal Holter; two sisters-in-law; and a brother-in-law.
