Description	:	Ivan W. Troyer, 92, passed away Aug. 26, 2007 in Spokane, Wash. after a long battle fighting cancer. He was born in Newport, Wash. on Dec. 25, 1914 to Ira S. and Maude Troyer. Ivan attended his elementary grades in a one-room schoolhouse in Deer Valley, Wash. He started high school in Newport but graduated from Metaline High School. Read More	Ivan W. Troyer, 92, passed away Aug. 26, 2007 in Spokane, Wash. after a long battle fighting cancer. He was born in Newport, Wash. on Dec. 25, 1914 to Ira S. and Maude Troyer. Ivan attended his elementary grades in a one-room schoolhouse in Deer Valley, Wash. He started high school in Newport but graduated from Metaline High School. Ivan worked in the Metaline mines for a short time. He met Rose Toth, his wife of 67 years, in Metaline Falls. They married in Newport on Oct. 8, 1937. They went to Vancouver, Wash. with their daughters to work in the shipyards during World War II where he learned the welding and machinist trade. After the war they moved back to Newport with two sons, who were born in Vancouver. Ivan worked at his own machinist and blacksmith business until 1954 when he moved to Libby and went to work as a machinist at the Zonolite Mine. He retired at age 62. He enjoyed many years of fishing, hunting and later, prospecting. Ivan had many good friends who enjoyed his great sense of humor and story telling. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents Ira and Maude Troyer; daughter, Patricia Glander, and grandson, Joseph Glander; his wife, Rose, and daughter-in- law Jeanne Troyer. Survivors include his daughter Margaret E. and her husband Ed Albright in Spokane, Wash; two sons Ivan and his wife Diane Troyer Jr., and Ira Troyer all in Libby; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. A graveside inurnment will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Newport Cemetery in Newport, Wash.
