Description	:	IVER OPDAHL Funeral services for Iver Opdahl were held Saturday from the First Lutheran Church with Rev. E. Kristensen officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery, this land having been owned and donated by the deceased during earlier years. Many memorial gifts were given in his memory – a man who had been a good neighbor and always willing to help others. Honorary pallbearers were: R.B. Monson, Bernt Christianson, Thomas Gudmestad, Sr., Abraham Skretting, Christ Olson, Haldor Opperud. Active pallbearers were: Orvin Elton, George Olson, Sr., George Piehl, Gilbert Berg, K.K. Wangrud and Lewis Rockswold. Arrangements were made by the Hub Peterson Funeral Home. Iver Opdahl was born April 2nd, 1881 in Minneota, Minnestoa. He was baptized, confirmed and on December 5, 1907 was united in marriage to Miss Hilda Christianson by Rev. Kleven of the Norwegian Lutheran Church. Ten children were born to this union. He passed away at Mercy Hospital in Valley City in the presence of his family and Rev. Kristensen on July 24th at 2:30 a.m. at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 22 days. Death came after a lingering heart condition. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Hilda; one daughter (Muriel) Mrs. Richard Felchle, Culver City, CA; and eight sons: Henry, Alfred, Elmer and Lyle of Litchville; Ingulf, Inglewood, CA.; Clarence, Chicago; Donald, Valley City; Cpl. Gerald, Camp Rucker; 16 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. John Johnson of Chicago. One daughter, Isabelle, preceded him in death, August 31, 1924. Mr. Opdahl arrived in the Litchville community in 1914. He had previously farmed for two years in the Marion community and several years in Minnesota on his father's homestead. He established a farm northwest of Litchville in Rosebud township. While here he served on the Rosebud #72 school board and did his part in every way in pioneering and building the cemetery. In 1936 he purchased the farm southeast of Litchville where the family lived until 1944 when due to ill health, he retired and moved to Litchville. There was a huge crowd at the Iver Opdahl funeral. Published in The Litchville Bulletin, July 1951.
