Bivens, 78, of Weller Road, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at her home. Born June 13, 1927, in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late Will and Gertrude Weller Shoemaker and the widow of Ray E. Bivens, who died Feb. 27, 2002. She was retired from the Park-n-Dine Restaurant in Hancock. She was a life member of Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, where she was a deaconess and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of Fahrney Keedy Auxiliary. She is survived by one daughter, Helen M. Miller of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one son, Carl E. Bivens of Mercersburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Chris Bivens and Allison Horetz; two great-grandchildren, Conner Bivens and Sydney Bivens; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elverta Fritz and Wyoma Younker; and three brothers, Bernard Shoemaker, Lewellyn Shoemaker and Willard Shoemaker. A service will be Tuesday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Harry Strite will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, and Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open Monday from noon to 9 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren, c/o Wayne Winters, 318 Town Drive, Greencastle, PA 17225.
