Description	:	Adam Lueckel passed away at his home last Thursday at 10:20 p.m. in his sixty-seventh year. He was stricken with illness several weeks ago, and although everything possible was done for him that medical care and love could devise, he was unable to withstand the shock of two operations, followed by pneumonia. He was brought home from the hospital to satisfy his desire to be in his family about a week before the end came. Adam Lueckel was born July 14, 1865, at Ellershausen, Germany, and died May 12, 1932, at Farmington. He was the son of Johannes and Elizabeth Nauman Lueckel. His parents came to America in 1880 and settled in Farmington. Adam was left behind to learn his trade, that of a butcher. Three years later he arrived and has always lived in Farmington. Most of his life he follow the butcher business. For eight years he was in the ice business. In his dealings he was the soul of honor, honest, upright, punctual to the minute, and noted for keeping his word. He was married to Laura Jane Wilson of Farmington Oct. 27, 1897. One daughter, Blanche, and one son, Ray, were born to this union. In his home he was a loving husband, tender and considerate to the wife of his youth whose health for years has been poor. To his children he was a wonderful father, loving, generous and understanding. This love was extended in unstinted measure to the three grandchildren, all too young to realize their loss. He leaves to his family the heritage of a clean life. He was a quiet man, friendly with all and sincere in his attitude. He loved music, especially band music. He could not understand why anyone wold(sp) not wish to practice music. In Germany, as a lad, he was obliged to walk five miles for his music lessons. He was a member of all the splendid bands Farmington used to support, among them the Cigar Makers band. Though not a cigar maker himself, the organization was elastic enough to take in other good musicians. He and his brothers, Charlie and Wilhelm, belonged. In those days the band frequently went to Burlington, Ft. Madison, Keokuk and Donnellson to paly on special occasions. He always accompanied them and played the baritone solo parts. He was a member of the German Lutheran church, and of Widey Lodge No. 17, I.O.O.F. He is survived by his sorrowing wife, his daughter, Blanche Lueckel Van Ausdall, his son, Ray Lueckel, three grandchildren, Hillys Jane and Rodney Van Ausdall, and Helen Louise Lueckel, all of Farmington, one brother, Charles Lueckel of Ft. Madison, several nieces and nephews and many life long friends. Enshrined but not apart, How safe within the heart We hold them still-undead, Whatever else be fled.
