Read More	DEATH CLAIMS A GOOD CITIZEN - Everett Burris Died Saturday Morning follow a long illness with tuberculosis... James Everett Burris died at the home of his father-in-law, J. C. Vaughn on Saturday morning at 5 o'clock of tuberculosis. He had been in failing health for more than two years, having lived in Rocky Ford, Colorado, from Sept. 26, 1909 to May 1 of last year on account of his health. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Burris, and was born at West Lebanon on November 18, 1876. His mother died when he was but four years of age, and he was taken into the home of an uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Asbury Swank of Chalmers, Indiana who cared for him until he was able to make his way in the world. He first came to New Richmond to work as a carpenter. Here on October 22, 1902, he was married to Nettie May Vaughn, and to this union there were born two daughters, Mary Mildred and Ruth Elizabeth. Mr. Burris was united with the Methodist Episcopal church when 13 years of age at Chalmers, Ind. After his return from Colorado,he transferred his membership to the New Richmond church. He was a quiet but devout and firm believer in Christ and his kingdom. For his family's sake, he prayed to God that he might be restored to health; but he was resigned to whatever was the will of God. The last work spoken was the name of Jesus. He had the good reputation of beign a good boy, a good man, and a most thoughtful and faithful husband and father. The end came peacefully, and the last moments were filled with thoughts of his wife and children and God and his future home.
