Description	:	From the records I am finding in ancestry.com, it appears that Jack started life as Orange Jackson Bailey. His World War I registration was made out in that name, and he is shown in the early census records as Orange J Bailey. He married Nora Williams on September 15, 1915, in Bloomfield, Iowa, and in that marriage record, his name is shown as Jackson Bailey. From the 1930 Census records on, his name is given as Jack Bailey, and that is the name on his Social Security Death index and his gravestone. In keeping with findagrave... In keeping with findagrave guidelines of using the name on the gravestone, and with Jack's wishes that he be called Jack, I am using the name of Jack on this memorial. --------------- Obituary From Ottumwa Courier, Tuesday, March 8, 1966, Page 12: Ex-Sheriff Jack Bailey Dies Monday BLOOMFIELD – Jack Bailey, 75, Davis County farmer and former Appanoose County sheriff, died at Davis County Hospital Monday at 6 p.m. The son of William S. and Eva Roland Bailey, he was born in Appanoose County March 6, 1891. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He married Nora Williams, who died Nov. 1, 1959. Also preceding him in death were an infant son, a daughter, Doris, in 1929; three sisters and two brothers. He served as Appanoose County Sheriff 1939-1947. Survivors include three sons, Lloyd and Curtis of Centerville and Winfred of rural Unionville; four grandchildren, three brothers, Simpson, Halbert, and Emery of Ottumwa, and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Pherigo and Mrs. Cara Brooks of Ottumwa. The service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Priester Funeral Chapel with Dr. Hugh Sawyer of Centerville officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery at Ottumwa.
