Read More	Lethbridge Herald Tuesday, October 8, 1946 Many Assist In Search For Bodies Of Ross Lake Drowning Victims CARDSTON--(HNS)-- Wonderful help has been given by men of Cardston and district in the search for the two bodies of the drowning victims, Jack Ellison and Ryerson Christie, at Ross Lake, Friday afternoon. A truck jeep, carrying two motor boats and several carloads of men were on the scene all day Saturday dragging the lake. The hats of the two victims were found, also Ellison's leather gloves. In the vicinity of the lake, where it was supposed the bodies would be, there was a heavy growth of weeds about a foot below the surface. At that particular spot the lake was about 12 feet deep. Sunday morning a party of men and three more boats returned to the scene, this time they took poles to make rafts which would perhaps be more effective than the motor boats which travelled so fast. Ryerson Christie, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. R M Christie of Cardston, was born here Nov. 3, 1921. He took his schooling at Old Chief and Cardston. August 1942, he joined the R.C.A.F and later received his wings as a pilot at Claresholm. His father had the privilege of pinning on his wings. October 1943, he went overseas and later went into active service. It was at that time he was seriously wounded in October, 1944. He spent considerable time in hospitals, but apparently recovered and returned home in March 1945. He had been helping at the Christie farm south of Cardston but was planning on going to school this fall. R M Christie, the father, is president of the local Rotary Club and a very active citizen in the community. He gave one son during the war. PO. Richard M. Christie, who lost his life in the North Sea in July, 1943, while on active service. Another son, PO. Brock Christie, served overseas with the R.C.A.F., and was six months with the underground in Holland, and another son, Herbert Christie is at Edmonton in university studying for his masters degree. Jack B. Ellison, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Ellison of Cardston, was born at Cardston, July 17, 1921. Te took his schooling at Aetna, Kimball and Cardston. He has always been interested in Rodeo and has made a name for himself in the rodeo world. This year he split 1st, 2nd and 3rd in bronc riding at Macloed, won in the bronc bareback and steer riding at Redcliff, and at Cardston rode won 2nd in the bronc riding. He sustained injuries which prevented him from entering other rodeos this year. Sympathy goes out to his young wife, the former Miss Dorothy Hugot of Spokane. They have been married two years. He also has a brother Joseph, and three sisters, Mrs. Carma Boyshuck of Vancouver, Mrs. Lois Jensen and Miss Joyce Ellison of Cardston.
