He was in failing health. He was born on April 5, 1921, at Spivey to Dewey and Maybelle Wheeler. His mother died when he was 5. He went to live with an aunt and uncle in southwest Oklahoma. Read More	Son of George Dewey Wheeler & Maybelle Ellen Rickard. Parsons Sun - (Jan/16/2008) Jack D. Wheeler, 86, of Parsons died at 11:17 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Labette Health. He was in failing health. He was born on April 5, 1921, at Spivey to Dewey and Maybelle Wheeler. His mother died when he was 5. He went to live with an aunt and uncle in southwest Oklahoma. At the age of 15 his dream of living with his father and grandparents back in Kansas came true. It was at this time that he learned the guitar and became a skilled musician. He also was the lead guitarist in his own western swing band, entertained others for many years and wrote over 100 songs. He was also a WW II veteran and served in the Navy. In 1947 he married Verla Goodwin of Toronto, Kan. Later they divorced. She proceeded him in death. In 1973 he married Frances Escolas of Oxford, Mass. She survives of Parsons. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1971 and as a result learned Bible truths that changed his life. He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Parsons. He looked forward to a resurrection back on a beautiful paradise earth with Jesus Christ as King. Survivors include six children, Layne Wheeler of The Woodlands, Texas, Lonna Dedman of Haysville, Galen Wheeler of Parsons, Kevin Wheeler of Wichita, Brenda Goss of Parsons and Wade Wheeler of Joplin; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents, Dewey and Maybelle Wheeler; and two sisters, Joanne Smith of Indiana and Beth Murdock of Florida. The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Burial will be in Kingman.
