Description	:	Jack E Groene, 80, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Burlington, Iowa, passed away on November 17, 2018 at Genesis East Hospital. Jack Groene was born December 17, 1937 in Ft. Madison, Iowa to Eugene Groene and Marcella (Hesse) Bohannon. He was a 1957 graduate of Burlington Catholic High School. Read More	Jack E Groene, 80, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Burlington, Iowa, passed away on November 17, 2018 at Genesis East Hospital. Jack Groene was born December 17, 1937 in Ft. Madison, Iowa to Eugene Groene and Marcella (Hesse) Bohannon. He was a 1957 graduate of Burlington Catholic High School. Jack served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1962 which included time on the USS Piedmont out of San Diego. Jack married Eleanor Roxlau May 5, 1962, in Ft. Madison. They resided in Burlington, where they raised their six children and were members of St. John's Parish where he served the parish as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher. Jack was employed by Archway Homestyle Cookies for 28 years. Jack and Eleanor were married 56 years and were co-owners of the Suburban Club. Jack also cooked at Pzazz! and managed the dining area on the Catfish Bend Casino boat. Jack enjoyed spending time on his acreages over the years which always provided a variety of pets, small farm animals and chores. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially when all could gather. The acreage and restaurants provided great opportunities for life lessons. He will be remembered as a hard worker who shared his smart wit with those he loved. He shared the gift of life by donating tissue through the Iowa Donor Network. He was preceded in death by his father in infancy, his mother and his two half-sisters Mary Ann Owers and Donna Hartwig, as well as many beloved aunts and uncles.
