Description	:	Jack E. Carr, 85, formerly of Ottumwa, died August 28, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society, Keosauqua. He was born August 31, 1924 in Ottumwa to Hugh and Betha McCarty Carr. He married Margie R. Crane in August, 1947. She preceded him in death September 27, 2009. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1943, he served in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier during World War II. Carr, 85, formerly of Ottumwa, died August 28, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Society, Keosauqua. He was born August 31, 1924 in Ottumwa to Hugh and Betha McCarty Carr. He married Margie R. Crane in August, 1947. She preceded him in death September 27, 2009. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1943, he served in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier during World War II. Jack was a contractor, working with his dad and brother for a time and then by himself, owning and operating Jack E. Carr Construction. He was a member of Church of the Brethren and had been a member of the Wapello Chiefs and Questers. Surviving are two daughters; Christina (John) Gillespie of Des Moines and Kathy (David) Drummond of Farmington; two granddaughters, Heather Ann (Kevin) Heiderich of Fircrest, Washington and Keri (Timothy) Halbrook of Keosauqua; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Hailey, Katelynn and Carson; a brother, Wayne (Phyllis) Carr of Ottumwa, and a sister, Juanita (Al) Merrick of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Donn Carr, and a sister, Louise Northup. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Reece Funeral Home. His body was cremated following the service. Inurnment was in Green Glade Cemetery in Farmington. (V.B. Register, 2 Sept. 2010)
