Read More	******************************** Fremont Tribune (NE) - Friday, March 15, 2013 Jack J. Legler, 87, of Fremont died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. He was born Aug. 30, 1925 in Fullerton to Leonard and Nell (Slifer) Legler. He was raised on a farm in the Fullerton/Belgrade area. He moved to Schuyler in 1938 and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1943. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a World War II veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946, spending time in the Pacific theater. After his military service, he went to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and graduated in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in agriculture. On June 21, 1952, he married Marcy Svec in Schuyler. The couple lived in several different communities while Jack sold commercial fertilizer for Phillips Petroleum. In 1970, they moved to Fremont and bought the A&W Drive Inn on Bell Street. He retired from A&W and went back to selling commercial fertilizer before retiring. Hek was a member of American Legion Post 20 in Fremont. Survivors: his wife, Marcy of Fremont; a daughter, Lori (and husband, Steve) Bradley of Fremont; two sisters, Sheryll (and husband, Deon) Roeber of Lincoln and Karen Legler of Elkhorn; sister-in-law, Bernice (and husband, John) Delaney of Montgomery, Texas; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and a sister. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Ron Battiato officiating. Military honors by the Fremont Honor Guard (Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 854 and American Legion Post 20) will be conducted at the funeral home following the service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 3-5 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Schuyler Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family or to the American Cancer Society.
