Most records I have examined present him under the name John J. Petersen. Jessie and Mary Louise Peterson both immigrated to the United States around 1871. Jessie's birth place has been noted as both Denmark and Germany in various records, whereby Mary was born in Sweden. The couple were married in around 1873. Paulenia A Peterson F 12 Iowa, Jan 1888 in the 1900 US census (MI is different). This Pauline's birth also seems to be too close to that of Harry. In fact, as Harry was born in April of 1891, I do not see how the linked Pauline could be a sibling unless her headstone is incorrect. The 1900 census indicates that Paulina / Pauline was born in Iowa in Jan 1888. Iowa, Births and Christenings, 1830-1950, Pauline E. Petersen, b 30 Jan 1889 in Lyons, Clinton, Iowa. D/O Jessie Petersen, 41y, and Mary Hilloughty, 40y. Do note that Pauline Petesron has a middle initial of E in Iowa Births and Christenings. Do note that Marie L. Petersen Lorenzen is interred in the same cemetery as Pauline. (8) Harry A Petersen (1891 - 1954) NOTE: Mary was said to be the mother of 9 children with 8 still living in 1900. It appears there is at least one child accounted for. NOTE: There do appear to be some discrepancies concerning the maiden name of Jack's mother, Mary. Son, Jess C's birth entry under "Iowa, County Births, 1880-1935" notes his parents to be Jes Hansen Petersen and Mary Louise Johansen. Of course, the surname, Johansen, was often changed to Johnson once the individual / family immigrated.
