Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Sioux City, with the Revs. Stephen Niles and Carol Jean Stapleton officiating. Bomar, 75, of South Sioux City passed away suddenly Monday, May 7, 2012, at a Omaha hospital. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, South Sioux City. Jack was born on March 18, 1937, in Plainview, Neb., the son of Theodore and Grace (Andreason) Bomar. He grew up in the Plainview area and graduated from Plianview High School in 1955. He married Deanna J. Bakken on Nov. 22, 1958, in Plainview. Jack was employed at Mauck Photography Studio in Plainview. After moving to Sioux City, he became a news photographer for KCAU Channel 9 and also worked for Prudential Insurance Company. Jack was employed with Joe Morton and Son Inc. in South Sioux City for 37 years, retiring in 2000 as vice president of the motor carrier division. Jack treasured the close relationships he had with all of his customers. Jack was a member of First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City and had served as an elder in the church. He was a 50 year member of the Omadia Masonic Lodge 5 A.F. &. A.M. in Dakota City and a past member of the Rotary Club. Jack was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan. He enjoyed playing golf and especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as "Poppie." Survivors include his wife, Deanna of South Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Mary and Mike McNulty of Gilbert, Ariz., and Karen and Tony Anderson of Sergeant Bluff; a daughter-in-law, Jenny Bomar of Rogers, Ark.; six grandchildren, Maggie McNulty, Mark McNulty, Katie Anderson, Jolly Anderson, Bailey Bomar and Nicole Clifton and her husband, Paul; three great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Molly and Jack; a sister-in-law, Eunice Wensel of Yankton, S.D.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Linn Bomar; his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Oscar and Margaret Bakken; a sister, Juanita Hobson; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Leo Mahon, Mary and Jim Bennett, and Delmer Wensel.
