Jack Lyle Harrington was born on June 6, 1939 in Fargo, ND to William and Ann (Lee) Harrington. He grew up on the family farm near Grandin and graduated from Hendrum (MN) High School. He attended NDSU before returning to the farm. Jack married his high school sweetheart, Arlotte Holland on November 12, 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum. Jack Lyle Harrington was born on June 6, 1939 in Fargo, ND to William and Ann (Lee) Harrington. He grew up on the family farm near Grandin and graduated from Hendrum (MN) High School. He attended NDSU before returning to the farm. Jack married his high school sweetheart, Arlotte Holland on November 12, 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum. They made their home on the family farm where he farmed and raised registered Chester Whites and Spots. Arlotte passed away on April 8, 2000. Jack's grandkids were a very important part of his life. Over the years, he enjoyed several elk and deer hunting trips with family and friends. He was an inventor of sorts, designing and manufacturing farm related equipment. In 1988, he was part of a ND farm delegation to Russia. He was well known for his corn and soybean test plot tours and the pork BBQ that followed. Jack was active with ND Pork Producers Association and served as a past president. He was a volunteer with the Hendrum Fire Department for 22 years, member of the Hendrum Community Club, served as a 4-H Leader, member of the local Lions and Mason groups as well as active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He is survived by three children, Kim (Kevin) Lautt of West Fargo, ND, Tod (Becky) Harrington of Grandin, Wendy (Guy) Solemsaas of Sherwood, ND; seven grandchildren, Joe and Brian Lautt, Kate and Kristin Harrington, Madeline, Grace and Lilly Solemsaas. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlotte; brother, William Dean; and special friend, Vonnie Lammer. Visitation: Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the West Funeral Home, West Fargo. Funeral: Friday at 11 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum, MN with visitation one hour prior. Burial: Quincy Cemetery, Grandin.
