Jack was born April 10, 1919, to John P. and Frieda (Widman) Loos in Fleming. Jack attended Sterling schools, graduating from Sterling High School in 1936. He continued his education at Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, receiving his bachelor's degree in education in 1940. Jack taught school in Padroni from 1941 to 1942. He received his master's with a specialty in industrial arts in 1947.On Aug. 24, 1941, he married Ferne M. Krukow in Sterling. She passed away in 1974.On Aug. 17, 1978, he married Dorothy Christensen Stoltz in Sterling. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942,serving in Africa and Italy, and was discharged in 1945.He moved to Sterling in 1947 and started teaching industrial arts at the Sterling Jr. High and then Sterling High School, retiring in 1984.At the same time, he farmed in LeRoy on his parents' farm until also retiring in 1984.He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, BPO Elks Lodge No.1336 and the American Legion Post No. 20. Jack enjoyed fishing, golf, woodworking, making furniture and toys. He sang in the church choir. Jack is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Loos, Sterling; one daughter, Peggy Ann Loos, Denver; one son, Stephen Kent Loos and wife Donna, Lyons; one sister, Della Opp, Great Falls, Mont.; and one grandson, Matthew S. Loos, Denver. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Feme Loos. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling, High School or to Crime Stoppers.
