Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Martha Jean Jolly Morgan and the son of the late Baxter Morgan and Eula Sparks Morgan. He was a farmer and former board member of the Grassy Pond Water Company, and was also retired from the textile industry and the Cherokee County School District. Mr. Morgan was a member of Grassy Pond Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and choir member. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Barry Morgan and wife, Susi of Gaffney; one daughter, Mary Martha Baskin and husband, Wayne of Easley; five grandchildren, Ashley Morgan, Jacob Morgan, Kelsey Morgan, Morgan Baskin and Meredith Baskin. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Maddie Baskin. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 PM on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Grassy Pond Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:30 PM at the Church with Rev. Terry Lanford and Rev. Martin Hogg officiating. Interment will be in the Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grassy Pond Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 254 Grassy Pond Road, Gaffney, SC 29341. The family will be at the residence.
