Description	:	Jack Coffman, age 80 of Boone, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at his home. There will be no services held at this time. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery at a later date. Jack William Coffman was born to Melvin C. and Florence E. (Swigert) Coffman on July 24, 1940 in Boone. He graduated from Boone High School in 1958. Following graduation, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until 1961. Read More	Jack Coffman, age 80 of Boone, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at his home. There will be no services held at this time. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery at a later date. Jack William Coffman was born to Melvin C. and Florence E. (Swigert) Coffman on July 24, 1940 in Boone. He graduated from Boone High School in 1958. Following graduation, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until 1961. His service took Jack and Bev out to California, where they lived for 11 years. The Coffman family moved back to Boone in 1971. Jack worked for John Deere for 17 years, then worked for Prairie Meadows until retirement. Jack was a Little League coach for several years and played slow-pitch and hardball softball himself. He restored old cars with his son-in-law, Jeff, and even restored a boat. Jack was an outdoorsman; he loved boating in the boat he restored, along with fishing and camping. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Jeff Smiley; and 2 sisters, Judy Coffman and Bev (Marvin) Thompson. He was survived by Beverly of Boone; children, Dawn “Shelli” Smiley and Chuck Coffman (Elaine Schrunk) all of Boone; grandchildren, Aaron (Andrea) Smiley, Austin Smiley, and Alyssa Smiley; great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Ashlyn, Jenna, Lauryn, Cadyn, and Ethan. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.
