Jack was born on July 20, 1917 to Thomas Branch Simmons and Elma Sweat Simmons in Bartow, Florida. At an early age the family moved to Riverview, Florida, where he grew up. He moved to Tampa, Florida to work as an agent for Life Insurance Company of GA. Jack was born on July 20, 1917 to Thomas Branch Simmons and Elma Sweat Simmons in Bartow, Florida. At an early age the family moved to Riverview, Florida, where he grew up. He moved to Tampa, Florida to work as an agent for Life Insurance Company of GA. In 1940 he married Willie Frances Elgin and continued to work in the insurance business until he was called to serve in the European Theater of WWII. Returning home after the war he became a stock holder in the Dixie Life and Health Insurance Co. He then moved to Gainesville, Florida, as district manager of the company and later opened his own Insurance agency. Jack was a member of First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, of the Cum-Double sunday school class. He was also a former member of Gainesville Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed playing golf and gardening. He was preceded in death by his son Daryl Eugene Simmons, brothers Delma Ray Simmons and Donald W. Simmons, and sister Mary Etta Simmons. He is survived by his wife Frances E. Simmons, daughter Sue Ellen Simmons, and granddog Katie Katherine Simmons. Jack was a loving devoted husband and father and will be missed by family and friends.
