Il : Jacob Cable was born at Mansfield, Ohio, July 13, 1833, and when but a youth came with his parents to Illinois to the town of Ridott, Stephenson County. On December 18, 1855, he was married to Sarah A. Gamble. To this union were born nine children all are living except Emma A. Gibbs who died in 1888 and Laura A. Morrison in 1909. Hummel of Hot Springs, South Dakota; Wilson S. of Lincoln, Nebraska, Charles E. of Gordon, Nebraska, Anna Dalbey of Bayard, Nebraska, and Adelbert, whose present residence is unknown. Mr. Cable came to Fairmont, Nebraska in 1884, where he lived for ten years, when he moved to Hot Springs, South Dakota, which had since been his home. Last March he came to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Putnam, where at 7:30 on the 28th of May, he passed away, the cause of his death being apoplexy. Funeral services were held from the home of his daughter, Friday afternoon, May 29, at two o’clock, Rev. A. T. Evans of the Fairmont Congregational Church officiating. Interment was made in the Geneva Cemetery, where the wife and one daughter are at rest. The Fillmore Weekly Chronicle, (Fairmont) June 5th, 1914 page 5.
