In 1870 he joined the Methodist Church here and remained a loyal member to the day of his death. In his home Mr. Gray was a man of peculiar tenderness, and the home ties were very tender and beautiful. Married Miss Saphrona Hardin in 1860 and Mrs. Gray died Nov 1907 of the seven children born to the union 3 died in early childhood, Elizabeth and Imly.George B Gray of Marion, Mrs, JR Van Fossen with whom Father Gray made his home with for a number of years. Miss Jane Gray a trained nurse deaconess, in charge of training school of the Methodist Church in Cin. Ohio and William Wallace Gray of Lowell Hill Cal are surving children.Impressive service were held from his late residence 202 Seventh Ave Monday morning at eleven O'clock conducted by pastor Rev Albert J Northup and they were largely attended-among those who were present many of the old pioneers were noted - the Burial was beside the remains of Mrs. Gray in Oak Shade Cemetery. This is the brother of Angelina Gray Hagerman who died in 1914 at the age of 87 years. There are 3 other brothers Addison Gray Alonzo Gray and Lafayette Gray who Lafayette Gray Cress was named after.
