Description	:	Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church here at 1:30 p.m. Monday for Jake G. Vermeer, 76, retired farmer and lifelong resident of Sioux Center vicinity, who died at the Sioux Center Community hospital Thursday evening, December 8, following a brief illness. Services were conducted by the Rev. P.A. DeJong and burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery under the direction of Vander Ploeg's Funeral home. He was married to Minnie Rozeboom February 12, 1914, and to this union one daughter, Priscilla (Mrs. Henry Kosters) was born. Survivors besides his wife and daughter of Sioux Center include three grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Gerrit Vermeer of Rock Valley, Jennie (Mrs. Gerrit L. Vander Berg) of Sioux Center, Marie (Mrs. John G. Den Herder) of Sioux Center, Elizabeth (Mrs. Herman Van Eldik) of Rock Valley, Priscilla (Mrs. James Hollander) of Sioux Center. Two brother, Edward and Benjamin, preceded him in death. Mr. Vermeer was active in farming until moving into Sioux Center about 15 years ago. -Obituary from The Sioux Center News (12/15/1966)
