Funeral services were held on Monday, April 2nd, from the home at 1:30 and from the First Reformed Church at 2:00. The church was filled to capacity, attesting to the esteem in which Mr. Grozeman was held by the people of the community and of thee county. Members of the Town Council of Hull attended the service in a body, as did the Board of Supervisors of Sioux County. Burial was made in Hope Cemetery. Mr. Jacob Gorzeman was born in The Netherlands on January 16, 1874. At the age of 17 he came to America. On March 8, 1901, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Vande Berg. To this union two sons and five daughters were born, all of whom with their mother survive to mourn the loss of a loving father and husband. The children are: Mina, Barbara, Alice, Marie, Elizabeth, John and Leonard. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and one brother, William. Mr. Grozeman will be greatly missed by his family, neighbors and friends. During his many years of service to the civic life of the town and county he held such offices as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Sioux County, he being a member of that body for 20 years; President of the School Board of the Independent District of Hull; Member of the Town Council; Director in the Hull Building and Loan Association and in the Hope Cemetery Association. He was always active in church affairs and also taught a Sunday School Class for many years.
