He married (first) in Middleboro, Sept. 30, 1823, Catherine Caswell, born in Middleboro, April 19, 1796, died there Feb. 12, 1833, daughter of David and Anna (_____) Caswell. He married (second) in Middleboro, Nov. 21, 1833, Ann Macomber, born in Middleboro in 1806, died in Carver, June 17, 1856, daughter of Luther and Achsah (Tinkham) Macomber. He married (third) in Carver, Oct. 11, 1857, Abigail Atwood, born in Carver, Feb. 22, 1821, and is now (1904) living in North Carver in the family of a relative, George W. Savery. She is a daughter of Isaac and Abigail (Thomas) Shaw and widow of Luther Atwood of South Carver, who died July 29, 1850, son of Luther and Lydia Atwood. She had two children by Mr. Atwood, Clara J. and Herbert H. Jacob in early life was a farmer and owned land in Sharon. In 1822, he went to Middleboro. April 19, 1827, he sold his farm in Sharon to Nathaniel Drake. About this time and a little earlier he bought a number of parcels of land in Easton, eventually going there to live. March 1, 1842, he sold for $2000 to Ruel Packard of Stoughton and Erastus Packard of Easton, his homestead farm in Easton, of one hundred acres, and returned to Middleboro, moving to Carver in 1855, where he owned a saw mill, which is now operated by his son Philander. Children, except Jesse, all born in Middleboro: 1) Lucy Catherine, b. June 16, 1824; d. Oct. 16, 1839. 2) Charles, b. Feb. 24, 1826; d. Mar. 22, 1826. 3) William, b. Dec. 22, 1831; d. Feb. 2, 1905. 4) Achsah Ann, b. Jan. 2, 1835, d. in Roxbury, Oct. 23, 1864. She m. in Plymouth, Dec. 6, 1856, Ira Murdock, b. in So. Carver, Apr. 14, 1828, d. in Roxbury, July 1, 1865, son of Ira and Waitstill (Shaw) Murdock. He was for many years a government clerk in the naval paymaster's office in Washington, D.C. Was a merchant at the time of his death. Children: (A) Fannie, b. in Carver, Aug. 1, 1858, d. in Taunton, Aug. 29, 1880, unm. She left her property to her uncle William Holmes. (B) Ida, b. in Taunton, 1859, d. 1862. (C) Minnie, b. in Washington, D.C., 1861, d. 1863. 5) Charles Henry, b. Sept. 14, 1836. 6) Alvira (Elvira J. on gravestone in Tisdale Cemetery, Sharon), b. Mar. 27, 1838, d. Aug. 13, 1839. 7) Philander Jacob, b. Jan. 22, 1843. 8) Gardner Everett, b. June 30, 1845, d. Aug. 25, 1901. 9) Fannie, b. July 12, 1847, d. Sept. 27, 1855. 10) Jesse, b. in Carver, Feb. 8, 1860, d. there May 19, 1881; unmarried.
