Rex On Tuesday morning Jacob H. Rex, a substantial farmer of near this city, departed this life, after an illness of only a few days. For some years he has been feeble in health, but no one thought him dangerous until only a few days before his death. Mr. Rex was born near Zanesville, Ohio, Nov. 13, 1829, and was united in marriage to Miss Julia A. Bell, Oct. 29th, 1867. To them were born five children, three of whom are living, and his wife survives him. The year he was married he moved to Iowa, where he lived till 1884, when he moved to near this city, residing until his death, April 17th, 1900. Mr. Rex was a quiet, hard working man who believed in doing right and in a modest way made a great host of friends, and in fact everybody was a friend to J.H. Rex. He was an active member of the Anti Horse Thief Association, an organization for defending the lives and property of its members. The funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon by the pastor Rev. C.B. Sears, at the M.E. church, and the remains were followed by a long procession of friends to the Cherokee cemetery where he was laid to rest.
