Read More	JACOB ISAIAH HICKS Jacob Isaiah Hicks, son of Nehemiah and Ellen Hicks, was born at Pattersville, Howell county, Mo., on May 25, 1878, and departed this life at Leon, Iowa, on August 16, 1939, being at the time of his death 61 years, 2 months, and 21 days old. All of his childhood and youth was spent in southern Missouri. When 24 years of age he was united in marriage to Cora Alice Huntsman at FitchvIlle, Mo. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Iola Kaestner, of Lamoni, Iowa; Ellis, of Ames, Iowa; and Rosabel, who is still at home. In 1905 he and his wife and eldest child moved to a farm near Lamoni in which vicinity he resided until the time of his death. In 1919 he purchased a farm in Harrison county, Missouri, which has been the family home since that time. He spent his entire life in service to his family, his community, and his church, being a staunch and faithful member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1915. He was a good neighbor, sharing alike the joys and sorrows of those about him and never refusing a request for help. His joy in living and in his work was an example to all who knew him. His devotion to the members of his family was outstanding and by his death, they have lost a loving and constant husband and father. No greater honor can be given this industrious home-loving and unassuming man than which will endure in the hearts of those who love him and who realize the extent of his kindness, integrity, and dependability. He was always in good health until August 11, 1939, when he became ill and was taken to the Decatur County Hospital. The illness was diagnosed as a tetanus infection. He was given treatment and the best of care, but was unable to throw off the deep seated infection. Death gave him relief from intense suffering at 9:30 a. m. on August 16. He leaves to mourn his wife, his three children, two grandchildren, three brothers, F. Monroe, of Cassville, Mo., Enoch, of Amith, Mo., and Charles T., of Wichita, Kan., three sisters, Florellie L. Akehurst, of Olympia, Wash.; Cora J. Billings, of Wichita, Kan.; and Carrie E. Hicks, of Joplin, Mo.; also a host of friends, neighbors, and acquaintances.
