He was born January 22, 1833 near Sabrook, Illinois. He moved to Elk County in 1873. He joined the Baptist church at Union Center in 1874 and lived a devoted christian life up to the time of his death. He was married to Mrs. Ella Carnahan September 2, 1877. He moved to Elk County in 1873. He joined the Baptist church at Union Center in 1874 and lived a devoted christian life up to the time of his death. He was married to Mrs. Ella Carnahan September 2, 1877. His wife and four children survive him. The wife, Mrs. Frank Rea and Mr. Charlie Loyd were at his bedside when he passed away. Mr. Loyd was a man who attended closely to his own business and never had trouble with any one. It was said Tuesday night and upon good authority, that he never had a quarrel with any person, and that he did not have an enemy in the world, something that can be truthfully said of but few persons who have ever lived. The wife and the family have the sincere sympathy of the people and the prayers of God's children that He may comfort their hearts and help them in this their time of deep sorrow."
