Read More	MOTHER: Magdalena Barbara Wagner FATHER: Johann Jakob Kipple “Funeral of Jacob Kipple” The funeral of Jacob Kipple, well known retired farmer whose death occurred Tuesday afternoon following a brief illness, was held from the family home, 2403 Eighteenth street, today at 1 p. m. and from Immanuel Lutheran church at 1:30 p. m., Rev. Herman Miessler officiating. The church was filled almost to capacity by friends who gathered to pay their last respects. Burial was made in Columbus cemetery. The service was almost an exact duplicate of the service held on occasion of Mrs. Kipple's death just one month ago, and the bearers were the same--John Doersch, Henry Wilken, Fred Fittje, George Baumgart, Dietrich Harms, Henry Groteluschen, Phillip Dietz and Dietrich Theilen. Mr. Kipple was a retired pastor of the German Lutheran denomination, and many of those in attendance at the funeral were Lutheran pastors now in the city for the synod conference. Born in Heitingsheim, Wittenburg, Germany, June 17, 1840, Mr. Kipple received his early education in the schools there and then attended St. Chrischona Theological college, Berne, Switzerland, where he received his education for the ministry. After his ordination, he was sent to America as a missionary for his denomination, working in Texas in 1876 during the violent yellow fever epidemic there. Two years later he was given the pastorate of a church in Saunders county, Nebraska, and later held similar charges at Millerton and Osceola. In 1889, his voice gave out to such an extent that he found it impossible to continue his labors in the pulpit and he retired from ministry, establishing his home on a farm two and a half miles east of Columbus where he resided until he moved into the city five years ago. Though 83 years of age, he was apparently in good health physically and in possession of all his faculties, thoroughly able to attend to the business affairs incident to his property holdings until within two days of his death. While resident near Wahoo he married Christina Lantz, whose death occurred in 1881. In 1882 at Wahoo, Mr. Kipple married Rosina Kuemmerle, whose death occurred just a month ago. He leaves two sons and six daughters, Mrs. Charles [Christina] Kapfer, of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Mrs. Stanley [Mary] Gernsey, of Cedar Rapids, Ia; Mrs. Frank [Rose] Becher, Mrs. Walter [Martha] Hewitt, William, Paul and Misses Esther and Frieda Kipple of Columbus, all of whom were here to attend the funeral. He leaves also seven grandchildren. Others who were here from a distance to attend the funeral were Stanley Gernsey, of Cedar Rapids, IA; Miss Mildred Kemp, of Schuyler; Mrs. Mary Graasnicklaus [Grossnicklaus], of Osceola, and Mrs. Joe Schroeder, of Garrison.
