Description	:	Jacob Lowell, son of John Lowell, Jr. and Martha CURRIER Lowell, was probably born in the New Meadows section of West Bath, Maine. By 1774-1776 he had married and settled in the northern part of Pownalborough, which is now Alna, Maine. He and his wife had 12 children. Jacob was a corporal in the Revolutionary War, serving in Capt. Scott's Company at Pownalborough, and has a military pension file on record. In a deed dated 20 May 1828, he conveyed his land and homestead to four of his sons: to Andrew Lowell, "in consideration of sixteen years personal labor and service," ... Jacob was a corporal in the Revolutionary War, serving in Capt. Scott's Company at Pownalborough, and has a military pension file on record. In a deed dated 20 May 1828, he conveyed his land and homestead to four of his sons: to Andrew Lowell, "in consideration of sixteen years personal labor and service," and to Samuel Lowell, "in consideration of eight years personal labor and service," he conveyed the homestead farm, "on which I have lived some fifty years." To Charles Lowell and John Lowell, Jacob conveyed land across the road from the homestead. His property was on the West Alna Road in Alna, and remained in the Lowell family for many years. Jacob and Jane Lowell are buried in the Alna Cemetery near their sons Charles, Andrew, and Samuel Lowell, but their graves are not marked.
