Discrepancy re year of birth: The McBrides' reading of the tombstone leads to a calculated year of birth of 1833, but the obituary says he was born in 1830; the 1850 Federal Census suggests he was born abt 1834-1835. However, under the spelling "Jacob Mayers," such a soldier does appear and is listed as age 32 (when mustered in on March 6, 1865) (which is approximately correct for Jacob Moyers' age). He was mustered out with his company on Aug 27, 1865.
