Description	:	A fatal accident occurred in the Sawnson neighborhood ten miles northwest of Chelan Tuesday afternoon when Jacob Olson, a rancher in that neighborhood, was instantly killed under an overturned load of saw logs. Olson and J. W. Olson and J. W. Clough were working together delivering logs on the lakeshore for the Chelan Box Factory Company, and were coming out with a heavy load at about five o'clock in the afternoon when they had the unfortunate accident, which caused Mr. Olson's death. It happened on a heavy grade near the McGruder pace – the old M. P. McIntire homestead. Coming down the hill Mr. Clough was driving the four-horse team and Mr. Olson was up in the load handling the brake lever. The sled and its heavy load suddenly turned over off the grade. Olson was thrown to the lower side and was pinioned under the logs. It requited fifteen minutes of desperate effort for Clough to loosen the chains and move the logs, and when he succeeded at last in releasing his companion the injured man was breathing his last. The body was carried to the McGruder residence near by and Dr. Mitchell and Undertaker Higgins were hastily summoned by telephone. An examination of the body by the physician showed that the chest was badly crushed and that the neck had been broken by the fall. The remains were brought to the Higgins undertaking rooms in Chelan. At the time this was written no arrangements for the funeral had been made. Mr. Olson leaves a widow and two small children. Mrs. Olson has been in very poor health recently and is just now recovering from a serious sickness. The family has resided in the valley for the past seven or eight years and Mr. Olson was an industrious and highly respected citizen.
