(Riley) Tripp, James H., Etta, Charles F., Andrew, and Pearl Riley. He was the son of James Hamilton Riley and Delilah Gibson. At the time of his death Jacob was living with his son George in Moberly, Randolph County MO. Death notice in the Maryville Republican, Wed., Aug 28, 1912, pg 1., col. 5. MO Death Certificate #27264. Family Mystery: Death Certificate and death notice in Valley Junction, Iowa Express (home town paper of his daughter Mary Catherine Riley Hicks) states that his mother was Rachael Hudson. Rachael Gipson b. 1809 Ky, d. 1873 Boone Co., Inc., m. 1847 Andrew Hudson, was the younger sister of Delilah Gipson. In 1850 census, Boone Co., Ind. shows Andrew's children by previous marriage. As far as I can tell Rachael never had any children of her own. Rachael was about 20 yrs old when Jacob Riley was born. 1850 census has him in household of James and Delilah. My DNA matches show James H. Riley and Delilah Gipson as his parents. So I am confident Jacob's blood lines are Riley/Gipson. But which Riley and Gipson? Surely Jacob knew who his mother was and told his children, who would report for the certificate and the newspaper obits. Was Jacob born out of wedlock to Rachael? Which Riley was actually his father? If James H. was his father, did Delilah agree to the mother role?
